JC4K Hope for Haiti Holiday Bake Sale Dec. 6th !!

Jeff Cares for Kids Hope for Haiti Holiday Bake Sale
Monday, Dec 6th
Jefferson Bookstore (8am-5pm) and Jefferson Alumni Hall (JAH) Lobby (8am-6pm)

Come out and support the JC4K bake sale on Monday, 12/6/10. In continuing our efforts from our previous bake sale this spring, all proceeds will go entirely to the St.Vincent's Center for Handicapped Children  in Haiti. Since the devastating earthquake earlier this year stole many lives and destroyed a multitude of homes, St Vincent's has been dedicated to rebuilding Haiti and rekindling hope for a better and healthier future.

Featured treats include cookies, brownies, gluten-free goodies, jello, and much, much more! Don't be shy-- satisfy your sweet tooth and spend towards a worthy cause!

This event was a great success!!  Thank you to everyone who baked, worked at the tables, and bought our yummy baked goods!  We raised $429.55, which will all go to St. Vincent's Center for Handicapped Children.

Shadowing Dates: September - December 2010

We also provide shadowing opportunities with Drs. Bachrach and Miller, one pediatrician and pediatric orthopedic surgeon, respectively, at A.I. DuPont Children's Hospital in Wilmington, DE. This opportunity which lasts for half a day, is open to two students per trip and is incredibly rewarding. Both Dr. Bachrach and Dr. Miller are gifted clinicians and teachers --you will certainly benefit from spending time with them! Further instructions are detailed on the doodle page.

Surgery Hours: 7:30AM - 12 noon
CP Clinic Hours: 8:00AM - 12 noon
Note: You will need to leave Jefferson at least 1 hour prior to the allotted shadowing time.  If you are unable to be at AI duPont at that time, please sign up for another date that you can make it on time.

If interested, please click on the following doodle link and sign-up:  http://www.doodle.com/ypv8cfedrxzaqqkm
Please note, more dates will be added as they become available.

Volunteering Dates: September - December 2010

Salutations once more, our devoted blog-ees!

One of our goals at Jeff Cares for Kids is to volunteer at HMS's Musical Therapy program. Usually, we volunteer on Wednesday nights from 5:30-7:30pm (includes travel time). Directions and instructions on how to get to HMS and what to do are included on the doodle link.

"Volunteering at HMS was both eye-opening and exciting. We spent the hour there setting up and then interacting with the kids. Since everything was musically-based, we helped kids get geared up for square dancing, playing instruments along with the musical instructor, and forming a hip-hop dance circle. It was a great time! I'm definitely coming again."
